The primary activities of EAE include:

• Serve as a forum to bring members and other stakeholders together in order to identify key issues facing Ethiopia’s ecotourism sector;
  
  
• Create awareness of the need to be environmentally- and community-friendly in all tourism activities in Ethiopia;
  
  
• Advocate to improve the enabling environment for the growth of ecotourism in Ethiopia by working with relevant government authorities and other tourism actors to develop infrastructure and policies;
  
  
• Set standards of environmental conservation, social development, ethical business practice, and quality for ecotourism development;
  
  
• Build capacity of members to reach these standards through business development, training and publications;
  
  
• Promote ecotourism in Ethiopia to foreign tourists as a world-class destination for ecotourism.
